We will meet early in the morning at the bus station. Our bus will depart at 7:00 AM, so please arrive by 6:30 AM. From there, we will begin our 5-hour journey to Chitwan National Park. The scenic drive is beautiful, and we will make stops for meals along the way. Upon arrival in Chitwan, we will be picked up and transferred to the hotel. This afternoon, we will take a stroll through the Tharu village and enjoy their traditional dance performance in the evening.
Today is safari day. Our guides will pick us up in the morning and provide us with packed lunch prepared with traditional Tharu cuisine. We will head to the park, where our safari adventure begins. First, we will embark on a traditional canoe ride, crafted by the Tharu people from a hollowed log. We will cross the river, which will take a couple of hours, gliding past numerous crocodiles, highlighting two rare species – Marsh Mugger and Gharial and, with luck, we may see some animals coming to the riverbank to drink. Next, we will continue on foot to explore the more hidden areas of the park. We will stop for lunch at one of the elevated observation points for safety. Afterward, we will resume our safari in a jeep to cover more ground. Finally, we will return to the village. The safari will last until the afternoon, and we will likely be tired, so we can relax at the hotel and enjoy dinner in the evening.
After breakfast, we will board the bus for our return journey to Kathmandu or Pokhara, depending on your choice. Once we arrive, we will say our farewells.
The park lies in a subtropical monsoon-influenced humid area. It is preferred to visit Chitwan National Park from September to May, during the dry season. Specially from November to February. During these months, the weather is cooler and more pleasant, with daytime temperatures ranging from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius and cooler nights. The dry conditions improve visibility, making it easier to spot wildlife as animals gather near water sources and the reduced foliage enhances viewing opportunities. Additionally, the absence of heavy rains reduces the risk of flooding and makes transportation within the park smoother, ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable safari experience.
